Thurber Theatre

The Thurber Theatre is a 600-seat capacity Proscenium Arch theatre. Named for James Thurber (1894-1961), writer, artist, humorist. The theatre opened on November 18, 1972 with a production of Jabberwock, a play by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee based on “improbabilities lived and imagined by James Thurber in the fictional city of Columbus, Ohio”. Born and raised in Columbus, Thurber entered Ohio State University in 1913, beginning his literary career on the staff of the student paper, The Lantern.
